The Dodo

Oh I had so much fun with this guy! I should have taken Work In Progress pictures, but I just didn't get to it in time, the next thing I knew I was painting.  So here is the Dodo, I had an interesting time researching this character which was based on the author himself  Lewis Carroll (real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson ) who apparently spoke with a stammer, pronouncing his name Do-do-dodgson.

Of course I took huge liberties in interpreting this piece, but I'm all about creative freedom anyway. Please note these pictures are enlargements, zoomed in for detail, also there is a slight iridescence to the feathers which apparently does not photograph, at all.
